I too would be conserned about load capacity. Would the contact area on both tires be the same? Does the profile of the 18 allow for more contact patch? With a bagger being more affected by cross winds I would be very concerned with anything that gave me less contact. That fairing can be a big sail if the wind is strong.
I would get the wider 21 inch, not the narrow size.

I have a 18/16 inch on mine. I have already contacted the guy I bought mine from and have priced the 21". My stock 16, the current 18, and the new 21" all come in a 3.5" rim width. I wouldn't recommend the skinny wheel either. My problem is, even with the 18" wheel, I can't see enough of the wheel for my tastes. I know some folks go to single side brakes, but stock is already hard enough to stop, imagine going to one sided. Single sided would be OK if you did a bigger caliper/6 piston (anyone seen the price of this!) rotor setup.

Hogpro has a gallery with lots of baggers and 21" wheels, they all look awesome!

I had a 21 X 18 setup on my 95 Heritage and i am Now getting ready to install the same Setup on my 07 RG this afternoon.
The 18 is a 18x4 and the 21 is a 21x3.5 and i have had no Problems with it's ride or Traction.

Try a 19" 120/70-19 Metz on the front and an 18" 160/60-18 Metz on the rear. Then you can run radials front and rear. Handling should be outstanding!

If your gonna do it do it right. GO big...

There is nothing wrong with a 21 on a bagger. The handling wont be bad and the weight limit would be fine.

21" all the way bro.
For the 18" rear tire, get the Me 150!!!!!Do not get the 160 it has a history of stability problems and side drifting.Ask a hog pro tech,he'll tell you.Thats why metz came out with the 150 to match the front. Its a lil more expensive but its worth it without the headache and its a lil wider than the 160.I believe the problem was the front tire normally used was either a bias ply or radial and the 160 was a mismatch cant remember which, but i havent had any problems with my set up.Up grade to a six piston caliper brake and lose the right disc to show the wheel.

I am going with 17. had a 21 on my Dyna and hated it way to flimsy when your hammering the throttle.

That is why I suggested the 19" front. You can run the 160/60-18 radial rear with the 120/70-19 radial front and have an oustanding handling bike. My buddy has this set-up and it handles like a BMW sport tourer.

BTW you have one of the best looking bagger's I've ever seen!

I went 18....18 I like the 21 but it just looked a little to big for my taste. I think something in the middle would be perfect but not available in my rim.
