I know this is a huge subject on here. I am very new here and cannot seem to find what I am looking for.... so please bear with me. Thanks in advance
I am doing some motor work to a friends bike. It is a 1998 FLHT 1340cc. as of right now it is bone stock! He just ordered a set of Screaming Eagle 10.0:1 pistons (.010 os) he has a mikuni carb and we will be installing a new set of V & H Big Radius 2-into-2. He is unsure if he is going to do any head work at this time.
But my question is what is best cam to run for this application? I was looking at Andrews Cams , the EV13 & EV23.
The EV13 is hard to beat for a touring bike. The 13 and 23 are pretty similar, but IMO the 13 is a better all-around cam, you get an additional 6* duration on the intake side without suffering the low rpm penalty of a later intake close. And the extra 10* on the exhaust side will help the bike run a bit cooler, too.
The Jims 1361, EV27 and SE3 are all good EVO cams, but work better in the lighter bikes.
Really, for a mostly stock touring bike, the EV13 is still the cam to beat.
Be careful to find a cam that matches well with high compression pistons. An ev13 or ev23 would be a great cam without the piston change but i don't think it will work well with 10:1 pistons.

Right you are, Mike. Somehow I'd missed that. I read "bone stock" and stopped thinking. Guess that's what I get for posting in the middle of the night...funny what a little insomnia will do for ya...
The good news, though, is that the increased compression opens the door to a lot of really good cams. Woods W6 would be a great cam at ~10:1 and would really wake up the bike. You can easily get 80+/85+ with that cam.
