I currently have pipes, a/c, and a store bought tuner with a 'canned map' and my bike runs great.

just remember to be weary of what sales people tell you

...also be cautious about this forum. This place is awesome, but it's a double edged sword. You must search a lotof threads, read a lot, ask questions and form your own opinion. This place is interesting in that if the majority has the same opinion, that opinion suddenly becomes fact. You don't need a freakin dyno for some pipe swaps. In fact, you don't need a dyno for much these days.

and before anyone gets butt hurt, realize the facts about this place. it's great, and that's why i hang out on here, but we do have our paranoia and majority opinions. im just trying to help out longawaited

Bought it with a Stage 1, it was dyno'd, 800 miles later I changed to a TH, had it dyno'd again.
I am not an engine builder, but before you buy your bike it has been run in the factory, and if you buy it with a Stage 1 it would have been dyno'd there before you take it home. So I am a believer that the rings are set before you even pick it up, but like I say. I am not an engine builder. Just someone with an opinion. I have 10,000 miles on my bike since March 2010, and the only problems I have had are cosmetic. Accept for the crappy V&H HO Pro Pipe being a bad design, and replaced with a TH.

I am with the change your fluids in all 3 holes, and let it rip.

Be sure to ask your dealer VERY carefully about this on a Stage 1. Many dealers will not Dyno a Stage 1 install without tacking on $300-$500. Most will only do the ecm dload which still runs $150 (halfway to owning a PC-V).
Others will tell you they're going to Dyno the bike, but they really mean they're gonna pop it on the machine for 1 or 2 passes just to confirm the ecm settings, or give you a sheet to brag on (or sell you more mods with)...

It's not the same as a Dyno tune, which should take several hours including multiple road tests on a basic mod, and even 4-6 hours for some cam/ac/pipe mods.

I'm lucky enough to be just down the road from Latus HD, one of the best tuner shops in the business. Went to their power workshop and got some schooling in watching my wallet carefully when it came to understanding that each dealer can mean something different when he sells you Dyno services.

That is all true.

I have struck a deal with an Indy here to let me pay half his rate to have a tech with me while I play on the dyno. Good fun for me, but what you say is all true. Good points.
