Absolutely wear my boot licker's all the time. Awesome invention from Faarken never ride without them. They come with a replacement warranty so you know they are the best on the market. Not sure why you guys don't get a pair. Cost is minimal compared to riding with your white socks flashing in the sun, unless you think that is a cool look. Sewing a chain in your pant hem well that tells me you need to get a pair. Wearing leather pants is not a great solution if you ride in 85 degree weather, wouldn't want to be standing beside you.
With my 32" inseam and Levi 501's I bought a pair. Forgot them more than I wore them. They did work, but I decided to just buy 34" inseams for riding. With the HD boots and the longer leg jeans, the strap is one less thing I could accidentally scrape across the tank getting off the bike.
I do wear these on long trips... Ive had my share of large insects up the pant leg, and did not enjoy it.
I do find myself, as Im leaving a stop light and lifting my leg to put my foot on the floorboard, catching the "inside" clip on the the lower edge of the board causing the clip to come undone, did this a couple times and now have learned to be more carefull as I raise my leg.
To those who think this is a stupid thread...Ive read worse.... and, there are more people wearing them than a person realizes....
I used to have this problem. I considered buying the boot straps, but I already had a pair of camo hip boots for duck hunting, so now I just ride with them on now. Works really well in the rain too, and they're totally wind proof, plus I'm invisible to any ducks that fly by me.

And I thought I had a tshirt fetish trying to have the cool biker stuff, never mind all the other garb, I can see there use, but go with longer pants. JMO.
