OR you could just put a little Marine Sta-Bil in with each tank and not worry about it.
It's that simple. Sta-Bil stops the break down process of ethanol....it won't reverse it but it will prolong the "shelf-life" of what we are all going to be using.
It really is that simple.
Marine Sta-Bil is a more concentrated version. Hardly costs more and a bottle last for awhile. You'll waste more money trying to find a non-ethanol station.
No, StaBil stops the detergents and additives in gas from breaking down which occurs because we use oxygenated fuel containing detergents and other additives that will come out of solution over time. This effect likely decreases seals and hoses from drying out due to gas decomposition. EtOH (ethanol) is unnaffected by StaBil, EtOH is a pure solution. The problem with EtOH is not it's annhydrous nature (will absorb H20) but its corrosiveness in solutions above 15%. Removing water from fuel tanks is a good thing, but too much EtOH leads to corrosion. Yes I am a chemist.
Run at least 91-octane fuel containing up to 10% EtOH. I run 91-octane oxygenated fuel that contains 10% EtOH and I have 10.5:1 compression.
Yep... you're right. Don't know where I got that.
Anyway, don't have a choice here as all gas is 10% ethanol from beginning of November to end of March. Besides a tankful of gas only last me between a few hours and 3 days.
i have a 02 merc grandmarquis that has sat for 3 months, even putting fresh gas in it wont run rite now..i have a 97 f150 that only gets driven every two weeks or so,it isn't running rite now..im sure it is fuel related, i had a 73 Lincoln sit in my garage for 3 years, 10 years ago,i put a charger on the batt, cranked 2 seconds,it fired up never missed a beat. i drove it 6 months before selling it and never did a thing..i have a mechanic friend,i asked him to check all 3 of my vehicles because the check engine light is on,all 3 had the same code,he says he gets 15 a week for that code, caused by fuel not designed for any vehicles over 5yo in 7-10yo cars..they are trying to destroy old vehicles so you have to buy new cars that the government basically owns since the auto bailout..the problem is i only know 1 person that has ever bought a new car,i would be amish with a horse and buggy at that point, cant afford a used pos let alone...
Keeps 10% of cost of a gallon of fuel here in America instead of transfering more wealth to countries that openly support our enemies.
Not true at all since it ignores all the fuel that farmers burn to raise the grain, all the energy used to produce the fertilizer for the crops, and all the energy that refiners use to process and distill. This is nothing more than price supports for farmers at the expense of consumers (and I'm originally from Iowa), but our politicians and the ignorant press would have you believe otherwise.
From a 2002 energy balance study: "Specifically about 29% more energy is used to produce a gallon of ethanol than the energy in a gallon of ethanol." Citation: http://www.college.wustl.edu/~anthro...el-ethanol.pdf
If anything, the use of ethanol actually transfers MORE WEALTH TO OUR ENEMIES because it causes us to use more fuel!
