Default May be time to pull the trigger

If you've been thinking about buying a new bike, it's probably a good time. Just saw this story and it's pretty much in line with what I was told several months ago (summary: 2k-3k off bikes after Christmas). By the way, the salesman they interviewed is the same guy that sold me my bike. His name is Wayne "Rex" Rexrode. He works for Adamec here in Jacksonville and I highly recommend him. And no, I'm not affiliated with anyone at the dealership, I'm just a customer. However, the $100 gift card referral would be nice!

Well you've got our attention! What do you have in mind? If you already know Rex I'm sure he can sort things out on the gift card referral.

I'm just passing on some info to people who are waiting for the best time to buy. I seriously doubt that flying over from the UK will actually be of any benefit to you, no matter how much they discount the bike.

You're probably right! I thought you might be trying to talk yourself into making a change!

Admittedly, I don't know the salesman quoted in the short article, but it read like the usual sales hype of buy now before the price goes up. I've not heard of any MoCo price reductions. Dealers can discount their prices to move older inventory, after Christmas or anytime.

Funny enough, my local salesguy was looking to get me to pull the trigger on a Limited before the end of last year with the same basic story. "Prices are easier to discount at the end of year, owner wants the inventory off the books going into the new year, come February you won't get as good a deal."

I suspect the prices "are what they are" and they discount however they want like most businesses.

You always get a better deal when you buy during the off season.

Don't wait too long.
Once the dealers get into February they start telling you that spring is almost here and the demand is up, and you need to buy before they run out of inventory.
Same story every year.
Hit them around the last few days of any month. That seems to be when they are most likely to give their best deal.

Winter, when the weather is at its worst, is the best time to make expensive purchases of any kind! If the rain is hammering against the showroom windows and the salesman has nobody to talk to you will probably get his/her undivided attention all day. Be nice and take your time! Shame there is nothing out there that appeals to me at present....

Actually, I have to say that my salesman was about as honest and easy going as I have found. I started looking right after the 11's came out and he is the one that suggested I wait until after Christmas and didn't try to pressure me to buy right then. I did end up having them track down a leftover 10 because I couldn't wait anymore and knew I could get a good deal on one.
