Man! The valve stems are notonly difficult to get to, but both front and rear really don't accept a standard tire guage! It is a royal PITA checkng pressures!
Anyone have a solution (other than R&R the wheel and install right angle valve stems...if that's even possible?)
You must have the new profile laced wheels. With the valve stem right in the middle, they are hard to get to with a standard 45 degree angle tire gauge. I have been looking around for a gauge that has a 90 degree head. I'm sure that as HD realizes the difficulty, they will start marketing a gauge that will work better, and only charge 50.00 for it.
I did find a real short gauge at Auto Zone that might work a little better, if I don't find what I really want.
the 45 degree is not much help...90 degree doesn't do much either. Interestinng enough, my neighbir has a Hnda VTX and they have 90 degree valve stems (HD shoulda though this one out...or maybe they did and that $50.00 guage is pre-planned!!!)
I found a 90 degree guage that has a round dial and short hose to the intake which makes it a little easier. Still a bit of a problem but it isn't too bad. Marked G.H. Mieser & Co., Accu-Gage, purchased from Iron Pony,TR : 150255 $21.39.
Kind of a shame and scam that HD exngineers and testers couldn't see the problem from the start though, ain't it? shouild we have to shell out 20 or 30 bucks to check tire pressures? GM, Ford, Chrysler...and HONDA don;t seem to have this obvious problem. [sm=dontgetit.gif]
