To the OP; buy what you like. The paint is low maintenance and I'm all about low maintenance as it means more time ridin'. Fell in love with the look when they first came out with it. Never thought it would be so popular with so many. Don't see it as a fad, as Harley has continued to release new colors and is starting to do more paint schemes, such as the black on black pin stripes. It just keeps getting better. Heard rumor they had some issues with the area around the fuel tank the first year, but never actually met anyone that had the issue.

+1 I've owned quite a few scoots over the years and they were all sport bikes. On an average my speed is about 85MPH on the freeway and it was a given that within a month or two either scratches or gouges would make its way onto the paint. Strangely, I still average average about 85MPH on my Denim SG but its been about six months now and I don't even have a scratch or even a chip? Could it be HD uses a different clear I'll never know but it's definitely easy to clean.

that being said, i love my denim paint. clean up is a breeze. you won't get the micro fine scratches that plague vivid black, and you get to spend more time riding and less time cleaning.

i haven't gotten any scratches or gouges in the paint that i need to worry about so i can't comment on the touch up aspect.

i've had the rg for 10 months now. still looks new.
