I have a set like the Chillowees. Got them somewhere else. I usually just ride through the rain if it's scattered or isolated. I'll dry out pretty soon. If the rain is really cold, I'll stop and put it on.

If I thought I'd be riding in the rain for an extended time ( a couple of hours or more), I'd stop and put in on before the rain started.

I found that a 39 gallon hefty bag fits me just right .... and they're easy to store!

On the long haul, just plain old leather here, so far. And lots of it (pants, jacket, vest, boots, gloves). I have a set of frog togs, but have'nt used them yet (probably because where I ride, there is no exit or underpass to stop every other mile. Might be several miles in the rain before you can pull off anyway). All my leather is treated as needed. Keeps me plenty dry. And after the rain, just let them dry out, and if needed (couple times a year) then go over them with the leather treatment goo again, and they're like new. Good leather may be expensive but, aside from my boots (which I wear most every day anyway), I have had all the rest for 10-12 years so far. Pretty good investment, in my mind. Take care of your leather, and it will take care of you. Sorry PETA, I have no problem wearing the whole cow!

Learn from my mistake.......don't go cheap on ridin rain gear!I broke down & got a good(not the most expensive) set from H-D & worth every penny.I got in a rain storm for the Arkansas state line that followed us all the way to Beaumont,Texas & swore then I'd get me a good raingear set & did. They've got boot straps too to keep from riding up your leg. You'll be glad you did!

Default Rain? Pull over to put on RG???

Say huh?
If it's raining why would you want to pull over and change into something else?
I wear a pair of Aerostitch pants all the time, and they keep me dry if I ride into rain. On top I wear a similar jacket, but only put it on if it looks like rain might be encountered. I put the jacket over top my Vanson perforated leather jacket. If the weather is decent I just go with the Vanson, but I always wear the Aerostitch pants if I'm going to ride any distance from home, rain or shine. The Aerostitch pants also have some impact protection as well. Why would you want something taking up bag space that you only wear occasionally? Wear gear that doubles as raingear, works like it ought to, and breathes.
Don't tell me you ride in jeans, with chaps??? Oh chaps,.....another useless item of clothing that takes up bag space. Nice fashion statement too, NOT. I've never quite understood the whole chap thing. A half a pair of pants that offer little to no protection.
Next thing you'll need is a freakin' trailer to tow all the gear you only wear once in a while; gear that does a crappy job when yo do use it. Geez.

Go figure.

Comfortably Numb- I'm with you all the way regarding long haul rain gear. Pull over??? Whatever! Not around here. And bag space? I'm with you on that! Difference is- I do it with old school leather ("Perforated leather" doesn't sound good to me. And never heard of "Aerostitch). And assless chaps? HELL! HELL! HELL! NO! NO! NO! I may be old school, but I'm not stupid. Get some good leather pants (a little big). I wear basketball/gym shorts under mine, or if it's chilly- long johns (way comfortable either way). Big enough that I could wear jeans under them, if I wanted to. But I've always just thought that was overkill.

Comfortably Numb and cosmic, you guys must not live in a place that gets hot. I could never ride with full gear on when it's 95 and high humidity. I would pass out from heat stroke.

I have a bagger, so I am able to pack the things I need while on the road. A nice rain suit doesn't take up much space.

Just my 02
