Default Alternate HD bars for Ultra...

An earlier post suggested Wide Glide bars for a RG. What works best for those of us at 6' on an Ultra? Seems that I'm reaching down and forward, causing neck and shoulder strain after about 30 min. Would like to avoid changing out cables -- if possible.

Wide Glide work for this as well? BTW, not into the "roto-tiller" bars of the RK Classic (no offense to the RKC owners)....

Suggestions? TIA...

HARLEY DOES OFFER A TOURING PULLBACK. NOT SURE IF YOU CAN HAVE WITHOUT CHANGING CABLES.

I'll check it out... Just wondering what is out there -- dealers here don't keep much in stock for alternate handlebars, and I don't want to order w/o at least trying a rough facsimile of it.

Thanks.......

A little taller at 6'4" but finally finished getting my Ultra adjusted to the way I want it - changes include a Corbin Dual Tour saddle (lower and farther back) , HD forward mount floor boards and Wild 1 575 bars ( a little wider, higher and farther back)- with regard to the bars, Wild 1 notes that you don't have to change cables or brake lines but I changed them all out to longer versions- including the clutch - think its dialed in just right (for me at least)

somethinng to consider

I'm going through the same dilemma. Here's what I've found so far:

Handlebar 56625-99 (standard on FLHTCU)
Rise 7.25"
Pull-back 6.25"
Base Width 15.75"

Handlebar 55914-98 (Touring)
Rise 8"
Pull-back 7.5"
Base Width 15"

The first one is the standard set of handlebars for the Ultra. The second one (Touring) is 0.75" taller and 1.25" further extended rearward. The Touring bars DO require you to replace the cables and brake line kits, about $160 in parts plus fitting. You begin to wonder whether an extra 3/4" height will really make all that much difference, although a 1" handlebar riser for my BMW made a significant difference in my comfort (next strain and upper back pain vastly reduced). I'm also 6' tall. Don't know if this helps.

For the Glides with the Batwing, the bars are limited due to the width needed to clear the inner fairiing.
Flanders makes 1" and 2" taller Bars that will bolt up.

stsltd:

Yes, I had looked at those bars -- and they may be the ones I ultimately end up with. Mfr. says no need to change out cables, but I'm skeptical on that... Besides, I was trying to avoid the $200 pricetag just for the bars...

Thanks, though. Sounds like a great set-up.
