Default trouble with primary

I have a 07 ultra and have had a lot of noise coming from primary for some time ( sewing machine sound ) and it got worse, this started about 25,000 mi, then started getting chain slap and vibrations @ 40,000 mi, like to know what caused it, because I had to replace compensator, primary chain, auto tensioner, clutch basket, clutch hub and clutch bearing. The spines on the clutch hub started breaking off and the tensioner was bent, the rollers on the chain was chewed up....any answers what might of caused this.

Mine howled like a banshee from hell untill I installed the updated auto primary chain tensioner. The new model will not get the chain as tight. OTOH I only had a Howling.

I've replaced the compensator (SE version this time), primary chain, clutch hub bearing and starter clutch on my '07. I think it's caused by the perfect storm of a weak compensator, weak starter clutch, and an auto tensioner that over-tightens.

I heard the tensioner might have been over tightening, then a domino effect on the other parts.

...and also can be caused by overtight rear belt.

I kinda wish H-D had left the primary chain inspection cover on the primary cover.

These things have to be part of regular checks , and if you hear a new noise it is almost never good!
