Default Wrecked Road King Purchase

I have the chance to buy a 2005 Road king Custom that the owner had layed down. The bottom of the left saddle bag and crash bar are torn and scuffed, the headlight bucket and light need replaced, and the right fork tube is bent. also a front tire. The front fender was dented, but he has a color matching replacement and the front tire has a groove in it from riding it home with the creased fender. He states there is no frame damage and the front wheel is OK. The bike has 12,500 miles and he is the second owner. It was completely serviced and a new rear tire the day of the wreck. I can buy this for 8,500.00. It aslo has a clean title as it was never turn in to the insurance Co. My question is this a good deal. I figure about 1000.00 for parts to repair. I would like to flip this bike in the spring as I alreay have a Road King and a Softail. Should I take the chance or not.

if you buy the bike for $8500, put your $1000 into it, you are now into it for $9500. to get any kind of return, you would have to sell it for at least $10,500.

kbb lists retail around $12,250, trade value $9,010.

looking at completed listings on ebay, a lot of batwing bikes aren't even selling for that, and roadkings are lucky to get 9,000.

and you're still taking the chance that the frame is tweaked. look at the damage, left side on the saddlebags and crash bar, but right side on the forks.

unless you're willing to take the chance of having a third bike, i wouldn't give that much for it..... my $.02.

Story was he layed it down on the left and the right side went under the rear bumper of the car in front of him.

I'm with the others. He wants too much. I know a guy that bought a nice 04 RK for $7500. With 30k on it. And no damage.

Have to agree with guys above.......sounds like it would be worth a shot at $6500.00 and even then you might make a few $ or maybe break about even.
