I am looking at what I think is a GREAT DEAL but am unsure.
I am looking at purchasing a US Spec 2000 Electra Glide Motorcycle with 3000 miles for under 10K
Is that a good deal or what?
Also would you think that me standing at 5'5 will be too much of a hassle for that bike? I have always ridden on smaller bikes without bags and/or fairings and I am concerned this could be trouble for me.
Kelly Blue Book Retail says No http://www.kbb.com/motorcycle/retail...ra-glide/68706
But a lot would depend if it had a ton of add ons or performance enhancement that you want anyway. Are you sure it is a plain Electra Glide or could it be a Classic or Ultra. they sell higher. Good luck in Korea and thanks for what you do. I spent 13 months there with Big Red 1. Go Army
That's better... http://www.kbb.com/motorcycle/retail...classic/253383 mileage is certainly less. I ride a 09 classic and love it. Not sure about that year but I had to add on the lowers which are around $600 as I recall. You need to find out what he or a dealer has added and their value. Mileage is below what is needed for excellent and low mileage. I would also do a google search for used bikes to get an idea for what they are selling for out there. If the tours are 13 months still that bike will sit for a long time and be a year older by the time you get back unless you return mid cycle for R&R. you also need to ask if it has ever been down or damaged and what service record is if any. H&ll it hasn't even had a 5000 mile service. When I buy used (because there is a whole lot I don't know) I take it by to someone who does for evaluation. Why is he selling... other that he doesn't ride?
The bike is in Korea. I will ride it as much as weather permits. Korea is not what used to be in the past. Now Korea is a tour with family cars and schools for the kids.
He is a retired CW3 and wants to part with it because he can no longer ride safely. It is a one owner bike and has been sitting outside a lot. I still think it is a good buy for me. The only concern I have is being able to see over that fairing.
There are lower seats if reaching the ground is a problem and much better looking wind shields that are lower and much more streamlined. Here's a link to the one I like.
Be careful over there, former ARMY myself Remember if you buy beer over there at a local spot and the bottle is green rub your finger inside and make sure it's not a clear bottle...don't ask how I know Hoorah Soldier...and take care of business!
Just thought of one other thing ask if the Cam bearing fix was done, all the 99's and some of the 2000's still had the problem.

What do you mean with "THE LOWERS"?
The fairing lowers are the fairings that go from the floorboards to your knees. They're standard on Ultras.
Don't worry about the fairing. It's an easy mod if the screen is too high.
The lowers are the plastics that are installed on the crash bars in the front. The bike in the picture already has them.
I don't think there is any way to tell what the bike is worth in Korea. In the states $10k is higher than it should be for its age and condition regardless of the miles. Stored outside take a toll on the bike. I would be willing to bet it needs quite a bit of TLC and maintenance. I would want to know what has been replaced, just bc the tires, belt, hoses only have 3k miles doesn't mean they aren't cracking. He can ask for premium because the bike is already there and ready to ride.
As far as the height, I am 5'7" and ride a SG which is a shy lower but same fairing. I have no trouble seeing over even with a Danny Gray lowered seat.
Different Deal now that I know it is over there. Traffic can get interesting! There is a lot to see if you can get out and around. Should be able to turn it over there when you return.
