Congrats on the new ride. Picked mine up a month ago and have managed to put 500 miles on it when temps allow. First thing I had to lose was the locking gas cap and whip antenna's. Added an oil temp gauge too just to know what engine temps are doing. Due to my height I had to do the floor boards and tallboy seat (not pictured). Still need a back rest as tallboy does not have much back support. We'll see about head pipes and slip ons after break in. Heat has not been an issue in 40-50 degree rides.
Ahh Wondered about those whip antennas...everyone seems to get the shorty versions. CB still work okay with the short antennas??? Didn't realize gas cap had to be unlocked..Wish I had a damn manual to download.
I liked the black- nothing looks better when just shined--Wifey wanted the blue- so we got both..hahhha
As an ex Goldwinger- does anyone make a cover for these with antenna holes? Or just slice it and put velcro there? I know- I know- just ride and don't worry about covers.. Kinda dusty around here- (FL just big enormous sandbar)like to keep things shiney..

Former wing rider here too. The thing I miss most is the smooth power - and lots of it especially when passing. But I'm working on a fix for that.
Here's some advice for ya - don't use the front brake when turning at slow speeds (parking lot type tight turns).
Turn signal switches - one on each side. Probably the toughest thing to get used to for me.
Your Harley will easily take 3 times longer to clean than the wing.
The kick stand (officially called a jiffy stand) is going to scare the crap out of you. Trust me on this one.
You're going to love your new bike, post up what you think.
I had to post a reply on this post. I owned my GW for 7 years, and you are right, the kick stand still scares me after 5 months with my ultra. But I wanted to comment on was the front brake. Needless to say I learned the hard way. No damage, but made my heart skip a beat.
I've spent about 5 hours in a high school parking lot getting used to the low speed handling. It is truly remarkable how tight she turns, but it is a big difference from the Goldwing. All i can say is Don't ASSUME!!!!!
First post for me- Just took the plunge on a NEW 2011 FLHTK limited Cool Blue Pearl/Vivid Black.. Feel like a kid on Christmas morning.
Had a few bikes over the MANY years of riding, but this is the first Harley. BSA Hondas, Kaw Nomad, and just before this one - a goldwing.. The wing is a mechanical marvel- but no pizazzz. Like starting a dishwasher. Sat me up too upright, even with higheway pegs- felt like I was in the saddle giving birth. Spread eagle..Anyway- sold it and got something that has some life..No boring here.. Paid for it..(well- me and the bank) and will pick up on Thursday. Any pointers from you "Experts" is welcomed.
Postman in Leesburg, FL.
Congratulations, FLPostman. I'm excited for you, Thursday is just around the corner and I hope that the time won't drag too much for you! I can empathize with you, I'm waiting to pick up my RKC in April (91 days but who's counting). Congrats again and enjoy!
Condgrats on the new bike. I'll look for you on the road. Ride a lot in Lake County, and stop in at Gator HD when I'm up there. Sister store to the dealer I use, Stormy Hill in Clermont. If the service at Gator is anything like at Stormy Hill, you did good.
Coming up for the Leesburg Bike Fest, too. Maybe we can connect.
