FLPostman..Honestly I have not used the CB since changing antennas other than to figure the controls out. I figure its going to be OK as most of my use will just be between riders in my group. Harley makes a touring cover with antenna openings. I think there are many vendors for covers. I'm still doing the cheap method in my garage with a Walmart King size black flat sheet over it. Surprising its not long enough. HD has an accessory catalog online that can be downloaded in PDF if you want to browse. My sale included a small gift card credit so did a lot of browsing the first month. Its probably silly but coming from a metric one of the first things that I noticed is the engine does not kill when I put the side stand down while in gear. I am still amazed at how well balanced the bike is with weight carried very low. Another newb thing that almost got me while parking, my wife was on back and the passenger boards knocked my foot off the ground as we were coming to a stop. Theres not much room between rider and passenger boards for your feet to hold her up. Got to remember to take small steps when parking.
Getting some GREAT advice!! Thank you! Thanks for all the well-wishes too. Great bunch of people..
Still trying to occupy myself until Thursday. Looking online- watching Youtube videos of the bike, sound clips.. Think I have worms..hahhaa
Glad I found this site.. Can feel the bond with you all already.. That means a lot.
Congrats on the new Limited, the harley premium cotton cover has the velcro slot for the antennas the dealer will show ya, I switched to the shorties its easier to cover and seem to work ok. I have a 10 flhtk merlot & cherry your going to like the new bike the root beer is awesome, good luck,,..o~' o
Ahh Wondered about those whip antennas...everyone seems to get the shorty versions. CB still work okay with the short antennas??? Didn't realize gas cap had to be unlocked..Wish I had a damn manual to download.
I liked the black- nothing looks better when just shined--Wifey wanted the blue- so we got both..hahhha
As an ex Goldwinger- does anyone make a cover for these with antenna holes? Or just slice it and put velcro there? I know- I know- just ride and don't worry about covers.. Kinda dusty around here- (FL just big enormous sandbar)like to keep things shiney..

Real simple solution on the antenna issue - I fold mine forward and under the luggage rack, which will hold them down. They are on a flexible mount and spring right back to the original position. I get my covers from Wallyworld or PrepBoys - $30. They pack up tight for easy storage on trips.
Another thing I think you'll like as a former winger is a center stand. I highly recommend the EZ-UP by Wheeldock, and get this - you can put it up on the stand while you're still astride the bike! And you can ride off it as it doesn't lift the rear wheel off the ground (use plywood when you want to). Sure helps when cleaning the bike to have it upright. http://www.wheeldock.com/prod_EZ.shtml

If I didn't have to work Friday, I'd come up and watch you ride away on the thing. But being off Monday for MLK day, gonna be WAY behind on my week. Either going to the German Bakery in Yalaha for breakfast on Saturday or Mount Dora for lunch - or both. Just emailed my riding buds last night to see what they want to do. It's warming up around here. Perfect time to take delivery!!
Hey FlPostman as all the rest, Congrats on the new Motor, you will love it I am sure. As far as the cover problem with the antenna's. I solved this by going to my local ACE Hardware and buying a Grommet install kit for 8 dollars and change. This kit is for putting grommets into canvas. It contains a punch for making a hole, many brass grommets, male and female parts, and a die for rounding over the grommet. Took me about 20 minutes and I had measured the places where I wanted to put the holes for the antennas. Basically, I held the rear of the cover up to the back of the bike, marked the places where the antennas should exit, then used the punch, (with a chunk of 2X4) under the fabric and whacked it several times with a hammer. Then placed the male part of the grommet under the fabric, along with the die, female over the top of the male, (hey this is getting good) and used the pin die to lock the two together with a couple of good whacks with the hammer. The cover slips on and the antennas go up through the grommets, easy as pie BTW it was a Harley cover, indoor/outdoor type with the silver heat shields on the lower half. This should work on just about any cover you would want to modify. Hope this helps Ride Safe
Good ideas on the cover!!! Hopefully Thursday we'll have nice weather. Just bringing it home, as SO in hospital for back problems. Everything happened at once, otherwise would plan on a good break-in cruise.. Lots of time for that--I'm retired..

I have the exact same 2011 FLHTK bike including the paint. Love it. I put 255 cams in it, TTS master tune and used the 255 download from TTS, AC and STOCK pipes and mufflers. Runs very strong, Roll on is much better than stock. Mid range is great and it pulls very well to 5,000 rpm. We ride two up all the time and seldom need to down shift if the revs are 2200 or more. I love the quite and extra power.
