A buddy of mine wanted to move his tourpak back 2 inches....the relocator kits are expensive so we decided to make our own....
The whole project cost about 15.00....
We used:
1/4 x 1 1/2 flat bar stock....12.00 ace hardware
4 additional bolts, nuts, and grommets
Measured out the distance we needed for the barstock...about 13 inches
Drilled a set of holes that matched the tourpack support...drilled another set back 1" and 2" (we used the 2")
Bolted the barstock to the support, slid the tourpack back 2" and dropped the new bolts in....We used rubber grommets between the tourpak and the new bracket for added vibration dampening.....
Wa La....
Simple, cheap, functional.....the 1/4 barstock does not flex....we are going to tear it apart later on and countersink the holes in the barstock as an upgrade....
Great Mod. I've done all my bikes with tour paks like this. Make sure to sand, prime, and paint the flat bar and use either stainless or chrome fastners for the best long term results.
From the pics it looks like the new flat stock isn't bolted to the chrome bracket, or is just the angle of the pic. Hard to see. On my 05 the bolts go through the tour pack bottom and then through the chrome bracket.
