I have heated grips and heated gloves. The grips work OK unless the temp gets below about 40 degrees and then I really need the gloves. The grips are no substitue for gloves.

I kicked this around for three or four years before I decided. I even ordered some heated gloves, but hated the wires so I sent them back.

It was expensive to go with the heated grips but I am glad I did it anyway. I am a bit **** about non Harley accessories so Heat Demons were out of the equation.

Down to 40 degrees they are awesome, but below that the fingertips still get cold. I wear a heavy gauntlet glove and my hands get actually sweaty above 50 degrees with the heat on. I run on the #3setting.

We've had an unusually cold winter. I am certainly glad I added the heated grips last winter. The first install failed quickly, but they were replaced under warranty and I've had no problems so far.

I have them on my Ultra Limited and they definitely get warm but it is warm in the palm of your hand only. The top of your hand is still cold. They are better than nothing because you can move your hand around a little to warm it but not as good as heated gloves for sure.

Based on comments I read on this forum I bought a set of "Cartridge" Heaters from Polly Heaters $39. http://www.pollyheaters.com/ph400.htm
I have ridden in snow, in cold rain down to just above 32F (not exactly by choice) and even on the Low setting I have to turn them off every now and then because they can get so warm. If I were to make any improvements I would add the remote control that Gerbings sells and wire it into these. The only down side is that they can take about 3 - 5 miles/minutes for the grips to get nice and toasty. My BMW has factory heated grips and they take maybe a minute or so to get up to temperature.

I've gone through two sets of HD heated grips and they only last a year or two before they quit working.

I've been riding in 35-40 degree weather and set them on 3, they work great. Keeps my hands nice and toasty with just light gloves. Any colder than that I don't usually ride.

My wife had heated grips on her first bike and said she definitely will NOT buy them again. They keep the inside of the hand all toasty warm but it is the outside of the fingers that get the wind. Next time, definitely heated gloves.

Ihave the HD Heated grips on my 2010 Ultra Classic Limited, and I had them on my 08 Ultra Classic. They work fine and I have used them on quite a few occasions. They let you get by with thinner leather gloves.
