I marked mine before I took it off for the first time. Never gets tightened past that point.

There's a good chance that if you can get all the parts out, you could glue it back together with jb weld or one of the "super glue" products, but I'm not sure I'd trust that in the long run.

I'd probably chalk it up to one of life's dumber moments and buy a new piece. Sometimes it's expensive unfortunately.

looking at the picture, seems like some enterprising fella with some machine tools could make one out of metal and sell it for less than hds $57 and still make some money out of it.

Yes , learning moment. And yes an o'sht moment. In my case, I put the cover back on, slid the silver cover back in the slot , it locked down and everything works just fine, I just don't have the washer, collar and locknut holding the insert that tells you lock off on and accessories. So other than than , bike, turns off forks lock and turns on and starts. So what the heck are the threads for?

Gotta love the search function...I just broke mine today. Now I know I'm not the only one AND I have a part# to help me out.

its repairable with crazy glue or something stronger. However it will break again if you glue it. AS to replacement, make certain you purchase the correct replacement. In 04, the switch design changed from one with wires built into the switch itself, to one that has a plug to allow the switch to be replaced without the wires being meessed with. 04 seems to be the year the switch was changed. don't ask how i know.....
