Default Port and polish

My warrenty is over and I want to make more power. I currenty have a 08 flhx with a 103 with 255 cams --Bub 7 true duals. I just picked up a set of heads and want to have them ported and polished and am wondering who is everyone using----also any suggestions on cams or should I leave well enough alone. The bike made 84 hp and 104 tq would be nice if i could make around 100 hp.

Thanks for you ideas and suggestions

They did a huge write up about these guys and the scottsman head job in HOTBIKE a couple years back. If you can look up back issues of Hot Bike its Volume 40 No. 11 2008. It explains everything you need to know about airflow, air volume, etc.... Check em out, when I can afford it they are whom I am going with

Deweys Heads (Don Dorfman) in Edgewood, WA. (253) 691-5893. Don is a builder and porter; has been working on Harleys for 15-20 years and is very knowledgeable. Give him a call, he will take time out to discuss what your goals are and what he believes it will take to achieve them. He offers everything from basic head "blue print" to full pro-street porting. No BS with Dorfman.

My 103 with Andrews 54H cams and BigBoyz heads made 96 horses and 120Tq. I also had the Bubs7 true duals. Bean at BigBoyz is great to work with and his prices are inexpensive to say the least. My builder wanted to have his guy port my heads for $1100. When I got them back from Bean he was in awe that Bean could do that for the price he charged. A couple months later the builder called me to put him in touch with Bean, said he'd like to do some business with him. Bean is the only guy I would use but that's not to say there aren't other good porters on the forum.

If you're going to port the heads... by all means, REPLACE those SE255 cams!!

I made that mistake last year, and when I got the bike home, it made GREAT numbers, but ran rough and HOT, had all kinds of hot-start issues,
the ccp was 225/230 front/rear respectively, and I had detonation even after the timing was retarded.
The bike was much better with stock heads, as the 255s can't handle the compression above 9.5-9.7 CR, and before the head work, the bike just flew!!
(Worst money I ever spent, as I was only chasing numbers!)

Anyway...

If you're going with headwork, change your cams, and I hear the Wood cams are pretty popular: TW5-6, TW6-6, TW-7H, TW-555, etc.
