Hello everyone and thanks for reading my post... I am in the process of making a decision between a (1) 2006 SG for $11500 with 9k miles a few little extras but not much and (2) 2007 SG for $13500 with 1200 miles w/stage 1 kit. Both look brand new and ride very well. I know the 07 has the larger motor and 6 speed. Also both are Cobalt blue.
My background and riding is as follows. 37 years old 6'6 240lbs
I have owned about 14 bike in about 20 years of riding, ranging from honda rebel (LOL dont laugh) to 2 Hayabusas (Magnas, Vulcans, Virago, etc) I guess my riding is just for fun. I dont see and trips that far in my future. Just the occasional poker run and weekends. I have a vulcan 1500 that have no plans to sell. I am married so the wife will go every now and then but not much.
This will be my first Harley and am excited!
Thanks for everyones input.
So, for two grand more you get a bike with a bigger engine, six speed, fewer miles, and Stage 1 already. Sounds like a no-brainer to me. I'd try to get it for 13.
primary chain tensioner, is what I was trying to think of. I don't think the 06 has that. and yes I agree with above post would be no brainer for me. good luck with your choice and ride safe.
Kroozeabout.
From what i hear from a lot of the guys i ride with, the 5 speed is better if your an aggressive rider...my buddy had an 06 SG with 5 speed and now has a 2009 fatboy with a 6 speed and he says, even with the 103", he can feel the difference in the tq. just my 2 cents tho. I would get the one with fewer miles but thats just me
The 07 has the 96, closed loop fuel injection, upgraded cam tensioners, 6 speed (not a bad transmission, just needs a different final drive ratio).
In this case, the 07 is not only the lower mile example, but it's already go the stage I upgrade.
With the 07, you can upgrade the motor to 107 easily, or even swap in a 120r if you like. With the 06, biggest you can get to is 98 without splitting the cases, and the 120r wont fit the chassis.
