Thanks SCJE8...... Great explanation and yes -- certainly does help a bunch. One more quick question that the manual doesn't answer, can the voice prompts be either turned off of volumed down on the zumo 660?? Thanks again~
You are welcome sir...and yes, the Zumo has a 'Mute' feature to disable the audio.
i called garmins tech line, they say the only thing different is the zumo does not have the h.d dealers programed in and should work with the h.d nim. ill find out this weekend will post my findings
anytime..i hope that my zumo works with the nim.keep geting different feed back, even garmins tech line seemed to be not realy sure about it.will know this weekend
I too am curious about the non-HD Zumo's working with this mount. I want to get one for my scoot, and don't want to spend TONS of money for nothing. Thanks Steve! Let us know the outcome.

This has been discussed in great detail on the CVO forum since August-September.
The NIM does not work properly with the Garmin660/665
ONLY
with the H-D branded units.
They are different. The H-D units send a signal to activate the feature to allow the voice prompts to be heard over any other audio source. . The Garmin tech is wrong.
hi white ice,i read the posts on your link.. seems like the 550 will not work with nim.didnt seem clear if the 660 of 665 would work.i saw a post on this thread with someone using a 665 non h.d gps with the nim with no prbs

You've read all 182 replies??? About half way through there are a few posts where guys swapped Garmin & H-D units on the bikes to find out only the H-D unit works. I'm certain they were talking about the 660.

White Ice is 100% correct...the Harley-Davidson NIM will ONLY work with the Harley-Davidson Road Tech model Zumos! There have been no less than four online 'Harley-Davidson enthusiast' forums that covered/are covering this question...all with the same results.
As far as the Garmin techline...that is what it is! A $12.00/per hour Tier I analyst that is reading from a 'matrix' for solutions to the questions that show up in his 'telephone cue.' Nothing more, nothing less.
If you want to use an HD NIM...you need a Road Tech Zumo.
