The shorty antenna isn't going to work anywhere near as well as the stock antenna.
If ya look at the mount adapter of your stock antenna, you will see a small Allen screw that holds the antenna wire in the adapter. Loosen that and the antenna wire can be pulled out and cut shorter, no less than 18" to keep it working fairly well.
a 24" pipe wrench should do it. you might not be impressed with the radio reception of the shorty antenna, and yeah, i was just teasing about the pipe wrench, okay? just a case of cabin fever with this winter weather. it sux. congrats on your new bike. streetglides are great bikes.
