My mechanic says don't do it, customs have too many problems, my bike is in awesome shape. I'm looking for feedback either way. I only take 1 long ride a year, but is it just a case of the grass is always greener? Thanks.
Nope. Wouldn't do it.

Most of my friends ride softails and "cool" bikes. They always tell me that if they took long trips, they would have a touring bike to be comfortable.

I always tell them that I like to be comfortable on short trips the same as I like to be comfortable on long trips.

But I guess I am just getting old and I have been married for 25 years. The cool factor of a chopper just doesn't fit me. If it fits you, go for it. Or you could just pull it around on a trailer like most custom chopper owners to so everyone can see it without you actually having to ride it.

Like I said in a previous post I also posted this question on a chopper forum, I'm looking for advice and opinions. And as u can see even here its not 100%.

If I were you, I'd ask myself what kind of riding I enjoy. If you ride to a local bar, or to church on Sunday, or cruise the Blvd. then I would consider trading.
The riding I do is with my wife on the back, and usually over 100 miles.
My answer would be to keep the tourer.

i have an 08 streetglide and a custom chopper from thunder cycle, eddie trotta's shop, and the chopper is cool to ride and very quick with the big motor and all. this being said, there's no way i'd want to do a hundred mile ride on it. your harley is a far better bike, and you can get parts for it, rather than trying to figure out what was used during the build. stick with your 05rkc.

I had my Deuce first, then decided to get a bagger for trips. Both are very nice bikes, I ride the Deuce once every two months (as close to a chopper as I want), but always want to get back on the E-Glide!!!! FWIW.

No way I would give up my touring bike for a chopper, but that's just me. I bought my bike specifically to tour.

Since an 05 is worth like Oh...9000 bucks and since I know I will probably want a new touring bike in a year or two anyway and can afford it...I'd Take the Trade. That is if the bike checked out and was in good shape.

A 40K chopper still looks pretty much like it's worth 40-ish K. I bet it would be fun to own.

THEN I would go get another New touring bike with the new frame and advancements etc etc just for the hell of it.

You know...start building my Stable I got room for a chopper.
