Default Wind Splitter Windshield

Who out there is riding with a Harley Wind Splitter windshield? I was at the Stealership today, and they had a 2011 Road Glide with this type of windshield. After sitting on the bike (it did have a Mustang single seat on it,) and getting the feel for it, I think that new style may work on my Roadie. I have a blacked out short 8" windshield that I swapped out from the stock 12" clear. Love the looks of the short one but it doesn't buffet the wind much. Love riding with the stock 12" because I don't get much wind at all. Only problem is, after a few miles in the saddle I tend to slouch a bit and then I am looking through the shield, which I really don't care to do. Comparing the stock vrs the new smoked wind splitter it looks like the wind splitter has more of a slope towards the rider than the old one I have. Anyone tried this new shield out. Another thing I was wondering about is the height of the new Road Glide seat the same height as a 2000 Roadie? This new bike just seemed to fit differently than mine, in a positive way. Not going to even considering trading in. But was wondering if anyone is using the new wind splitter. I am 5' 9" and wondering if this new shield would give me the same wind protection as the stock 12"

i have the windsplitter. put it on within 3 days of buying my roadglide. that stock toenail shield sucks ***..... couldn't even hear the radio over 35 mph. but then again, i knew when i bought the bike that i would be changing that out right away....

anyway, i like the shield. but i am only 5'4", so my experience may be different than yours. the flip directs the wind to the top of my helmet, effectively pushing the helmet down on my head instead of being caught by the helmet. the side flares will direct it about 5" out on either side. i still get some wind, which i like. if i wanted to have no connection with the outside world, i would drive my truck instead.....

if you were just a bit closer, i'd let you try mine out..... unfortunately, we seem to be on opposite ends of the country

Hey Skratch, did you find the angle of the shields different?

When I bought my '10 RGC it already had the clear Ultra shield. It worked well but didn't seem to look right to me. I swapped it a Windsplitter today and put about 50 miles on it at varying speeds up to 80.

It works well, but just a little more helmet jiggle above 60 vs the Ultra shield - not bad, but the ultra shield was like riding in a cage when it came to wind. Compared to the stock eyebrow, you should be very happy. It looks much better, and the radio ROCKS! Seems to funnel speakers straight at the rider.

Zanotti has them for $125, but Columbia HD near me in Vancouver dropped down to $140 so about a wash with shipping costs considered.

FWIW, I'm 6'0 and 240 and was riding the stock seat today.

I bought a used one and it's mounted on the bike now. Just waiting for the snow to go so I can test it out. Does look really good though. We shall see....

I did some research and went with the H-D Windsplitter also. I haven't put it on yet but I hope it works as well as people say. I tend to stick with genuine parts when possible so that coupled with the good reviews sold me over a Klock or similar other brands.

Eyebrow and toenail are two new terms to me regarding the stock windshield. Eyebrow I can kind of see but where did toenail come from?

I owned one for about 2 days. It's "ok". The 12" WindVest is much better... I'm 5'8" with a 29" inseam.
