Default Required Accessories for the FLHTK

I am waiting for the new bike to be delivered and my Honda GL1800 to be picked up. I would like some suggestions on accessories for the FLHTK. I have already done the stageone thing. Already installed the reach seat. On my wish list is:

Service manuals,

Air shock pump,

Front pocket bag(s)-recomendations wanted. I thinking of putting the IPOD in the pocket.

I am vertically challenged (29" inseam) and am looking at highway pegs that will wrap around the lowers and come back to me. What is the best route to go on these?

I am also looking at installing a Zumo 220 GPS on the handle bars, plus a butler cup.

Am I making any mistakes or am I missing anything?

Thanks,

Well I do not know whre you are from, but to get out there asap this spring, heated grips are a real bonus. I love mine.

A service manual AND a parts manual are a good idea.... Air shock pump is also good...
I have a two-pocket windshield bag (three-pocket one is too large when I swap to the
shorter windshield during warm weather). I also installed the HD iPod Interface Module.
Heated grips are standard on the FLHTK. HD offers "reach" highway pegs that will fit the FLHTK AND fairing lowers; you can get a set for "vertically challenged" riders or the other set for those riders with long legs....

I've got a 29" inseam also and the Kuryakn long reach offset peg mounts work well for me.The heated grips are stock on the limited.Assuming by pocket bag you mean the fairing pouch,i've had the moco's 3 pouch and the T-Bag set up neither hold much, the T-bag looks better but a waste of money imo if you're actually looking for storage.Go to www.eglidegoodies.com they've got a good variety of bags.I've got my 550 zumo and sirius radio mounted with the www.leadermotorcycle.com mounts and love'em.Do a lot of searching around before you spend your money, there are a lot of neat gadgets around.Congrats on the new limited,it's a great road bike.I've had mine since last April,15kmi,22 states and ready for next summer. The riding season runs from May to Oct here in Wyoming so just waiting for spring.24 below here this am.

Here's a list of what I put on my recently purchased 11 Root Beer FLHTK, Most of this stuff transferred from my 10 EGC.

1. Replaced FUGLY front fender skirt with the chrome Bar and Shield one
2. Harley Goodies floorboard extenders and HD floorboard extenders
3. Smoked front fender tip light kit
4. Smoked turn signal kit
5. Chrome Tour Pack trim kit
6. Chrome levers
7. HD highway pegs
8. Kuryakyn passenger adjustable pegs

I also went from GoldWing to the Limited. I did the prior mentioned brake light turn signal and also put on the LED brake lights. The back of the Harley is pretty dim compared to a Wing. The front headlights are great.
I got the Harley pump for the shocks and it works well. Other than stange one and pegs, haven't seen the need to do much of anything else. It took me a while to get used to the Limited, coming from Honda, but after 10K miles, I'm really happy with it.

Buy a 3" three-ring binder and a box of the clear pocket pages for it to retain your accessory instructions (staple the receipts to the instructions as you buy and install them), service parts receipts (if you do your own work, they'll help you show required maintenance was done), shop receipts for service work, etc. A member here posted an Excel spreadsheet for keeping service records, but I didn't save it--pretty handy.

Take the service manual to FedEx Office (Kinko's) or similar store and have the binding replaced; it will allow the SM to open flat for easier use.

Congrats on the new bike; ride safe.

I am vertically challenged also I went with the Adjustable Highway Peg mounting kit Long angled they work great. You might want to think about Lower front and rear shocks or at least the rear shocks. And Pingman that is a great idea for keeping track of work done. thanks for that
