Hey everyone! I know that y'all have seen a lot of posts from me that were unhappy, and there was a reason for that. My bike was running crappily. Well, gotta give a shout to my buddies at Winchester HD. I went down with a list of problems, and they helped me out with them. Even did a nice job getting a real bad ding out of my front fender. I picked up the bike Tuesday night, rode with a friend in the area... BTW, if you are ever in Winchester area, just head east on RT 50 and pick a side road, there are a bunch of nice roads out that way... Then I balled the 85 miles back to home, and never a hiccup. Then on Wednesday morning, rode to work. GREAT. Then in the afternoon, it was fairly hot, I got stuck in traffic, but Mona never hiccupped. It was a really good bunch of little rides, and made me really happy. So, I guess what I am trying to say is thanks for the knowlege, encouragement, and fun in the forum. If any of you guys are struggling with issues with your ride, hang in there. When you get it dialed in, there is nothing better than throwing a shine on your scoot and heading out to burn road... I gotta say it is good to be back in the saddle. Now if the *&**#( rain will go away, I will be back out there again.
What mods and tuning application were used on your bike? Share the info, so others with similar issues can make informed choices...nothing is worse than a crappy running, poorly tuned bike!
Started out with:
25 Degree Injectors
SE Intake and Air Cleaner
Rinehart True Duals
SERT
Ran HOT in traffic
The problem of heat was traced to an interesting set of events:
Front motor mount loosened
Caused Vibration
Rear Exhaust Pipe loosened at the jug
This caused the 02 Sensor to freak out
Caused the leanness at idle to get worse
The Fix?
This is so simple that I feel stupid in hindsight, but here goes. Tighten the front motor mount. Remount the rear pipe. Hook up the SERT and verify the numbers. I need to dig up the sheet and post it, and I will shortly.
This seems really simple, but it happened so slowly, and I was not paying attention to the new pipes, that when it got really bad, I could not put 2 and 2 together. But the folks at Winchester HD figured it out, and did not charge me a dime. They had installed the pipes, and stood by their work. That was really refreshing.
I just popped over 5000 miles, so it will not be long before the 5k service is due, I did not do the 2.5k until about 3100 miles, and the bike is running synth HD, but I am thinking that I will switch synth brands at 5k service. I am also considering an oil cooler. Then it is just some other minor upgrades... Floating rotors, and some more light. But that is another post.
