I have a 4 channel rack/backrest on my RK. The height of the backrest was fine while i had the stock seat on it but since I switched to the Comfort Stitch seat (basically a stock Electra glide seat) it is far too low to provide any comfort for my passenger. I have a comfort stitch backrest pad on it so it matches the seat. Can you get a taller backrest bar to mount on the luggage rack? Ive seen taller pads but they dont match the seat.
Not sure what year you have, but for my 08 SG, I had a choice of three heights for my passenger backrest. Check with your dealer/parts guy.
For '09 and newer they come in two heights.
I have the same situation as your describing with my '09 Street Glide, and I have ordered the taller one.
It hasn't arrived yet, but the backrest pad will just swap over to it and it will mount just like the shorter one does.
Its a 99 RKC. I have the 4 channel luggage rack with license plate and backrest all in one. Its not a quick detatch rack. The backrest bolts onto the rack with 2 bolts. As much as I hate to I guess Ill go down and see what the stealer can do for me. Ive outshopped the internet and ended up with nuthin.
