No free lunches, especially at any H-D delearship. You will pay for the upgrades one way or another; don't buy into that BS. In this economy, dealers are using all sorts of tactics to get bodies in the dealership. Once inside, they are counting on smoke and mirrors to take your money and make you feel good about it. Buyer beware! JMHO
Other then the statement [especially at any H-D delearship.] Im with him.
I think all dealers of any kind of bike will do this junk to suck you in on a new bike. When I was looking at Polaris Victory's the Dealer here by Lansing was giving me all kinds of FREE stuff if I got a New Bike. The same bike over by Grand Rapids was $2.092 cheaper OTD with out all the so called FREE stuff. Like he said, No free lunches.

The first dealership I visited offered me $300.00 under book for my trade-in and wanted MSRP+delivery+set-up. The dealership that got the sale paid me $1,160.00 over book for my trade, threw in $1200.00 in goodies and waived delivery and set-up. I'm pleased with my free lunch!
If you can get that deal & pay MSRP for the bike then it's a good deal. Some of the dealers are hurting bad in this economy & have to keep turning things over to keep from going under. i It depends on each dealers circumstances, there are some good deals out there & there are some good dealers out there too, not all of them are trying to screw you.

Free lunch, I'm not so sure, the first Dealer was just trying to take you. But I will say it looks like you did very good at the 2nd Dealership...Good for you.

I must have thought it was a good deal...I felt like I owed HIM a free lunch!
Believe or not this deal is a lot better from Nassau county HD. My dad is ordering his super glide custom. He is paying retail for the bike, plus tax, and tags. Done. He chose the 103 kit, no freight and prep , and first 3 services free. He lives in Brooklyn and they will pick up the bike for service. There are 12 things you can choices and you get to choose 3.
My dealer was offering the 103 upgrade on any new 2010 model at the begining of the year. I don't think they're doing it now, but I'm sure they would come to some kind of agreement with the right buyer. It's all part of the negotiations.
