I went with the manual CR. Told many don't need it some do. For peace of mind I did while they were doing the other it was cheaper.

Just did the 103 BB and 255 cams in December. Compression releases had to be added
4 weeks later. Have them install them when they do the BB; whether you ever need them or not this will be your safest 1-2 hundred dollars ever spent! Should only cost you 1 hour labor plus the cost of the releases.

HD added the ACR's to my 07 Road King Police at no charge. It made a huge difference on hot restarts.

when i dumped my sert tune in i forgot to check "use acr's" and its def more strain (judging by sound of starter trying to turn motor over). With them enabled starts alot easier.

Default 103 compression releases

I had a 103 build with 9.8:1 CP and have some hot start issues- would have been a good idea at the time the heads were getting done. Oh well.

2008 Ultra w/103", 10.5:1 pistons, SE 259E cams, SE HP Beehive Valve Springs, SEPST, SE Compensator, V&H True Duals, Kuryakyn Crusher Slip-ons, AIM APC Clutch, w/stock heads and NO compression releases.

However, had issues with hot (very hot) starts so went with HD High Torque 110 starter and have had no issues since.

when my motor was being built into a 103 with the 10.5 to 1 compression forged pistons, i got the manual compression releases installed. i'm glad i did while the heads were off. when it's summer and the hot engine on a hot day with high humidity, you'll wish you did. the automatics would be nice, but the mechanical ones are easy to access if you need to service them or replace, as they're right next to the spark plugs. while the heads are off, it's not expensive to get the holes drilled and tapped with their jig. my bike used to bump against the compensator too even before i got the high compression 103. i also did the s.e. compensator upgrade when it was torn down for the heavier clutch.
