My local HD shop recommends installing just one CR on the rear cylinder. Makes sense and it's cheaper.

No compression releases here.. YET... It's great before she's hot.. If I stop for gas I have let it sit for a few extra minutes to cool off a little or else the starter will skip about 50% of the time..

It's in the shop now getting new T-Man heads WITH manual compression releases..

Default Which brand MCR??

Is there more than one band of MCR? Is one better than the other because I read in one of the previous posts that sometimes the manual ones can stick open. Is it a simple tap procedure for MCR's if I have the heads off anyway?

Have 07 rk 103 255 cams engine compression is low enough that i have had no problems starting bike cold or warm. Also have tru duals se race tuner and hd oil cooler and bike has been dyno tuned new numbers are at 88hp and 104 tq hope this helped. ps you can use the money you save on acr's for more shiny stuff.

My 103" has 10.5:1 compression, TW-6 cams, SE Heads, and about 105 HP.

Manual compression releases were a no-brainer for me. Minimal cost, maximum benefit. Looks wise, you wouldn't even know they were there, unless you're looking for them.

I'm so used to using them now, it's just an automatic thing for me to reach down and "click, click" the releases. Piece of cake.

No compression release and no problems,
but I do have the heavy duty HD starter.

I have had the MCR "stick" a couple of times on my bagger. I keep a spare one in the tool kit, easy enough to change out if a problem occurs (one of the reasons I prefer MCR to ACR, I have MCR on the bagger and ACR on the SE 120R dyna). Mine stuck for different reasons, first a piece of carbon got on the seat so swapping the release was the only fix until I could brush the carbon off the seat. The second time was just due to "dryness" on the stem, pulled them out to service and lubed with some Kroil. Now I just pull them out at the start of the riding season and service them. No problems at all last year.

As to tapping, a little more involved than that. HD sells a fixture and some bits that simplify installing the MCR, might be easiest to make a deal to have them do it unless you are or have a friend who is a skilled machinist.

3 years on ACR's and NEVER had 1 single problem, so rest easy on your Dyna.

Went with S&S easy start 551 cams (comparable to SE 255's) on my 103 build. Pulls less juice on start up than the motor did when stock.
