Do they offer to pay for any damages if it don't work? (Not bloody likely).

Looks like a gimmick that "maybe" will work okay.
Are you okay with "maybe" or "probably"?
There in lies your answer.

And if you feel safer backing it up with straps, then you have wasted money on this product.

If you decide to add tie down straps dont cheap out and buy the friction straps. Get the nice ratcheting straps that wont loosen up over time.
Good luck on your move.

I think the Roberts will take you a long way but I would not use it alone. Couple summers ago I came across a guy that devised a rigid tie down system made out of swaged tubing, http://www.moki-ezlock.com/ It does not compress the forks and has a front tire chock. I would use that, and my trailer has D rings on either side of the rear tire so I can strap the tire stationary to the floor, and strap my front tire into a Baxley drive on chock. Between the Roberts and Moki-ezlock you should be able to stablize the top of the bike. Good luck, and thank you for your service.

Thanks for the service and enjoy the retirement!
That being said I'm not sure if the frame is going to like all that vibration and bumps over time. JMO. But as already stated, if you use the ratchet straps in conjunction with whatever system I think it's worth piece of mind. I think the strapless dock would work fine but why take the chance.

It seems like alot of money for something with limeted function, and how many times are you really going to use it? Straps and a wheel chock are alot cheaper, and you can use the straps for lots of jobs Imho.,,

A verification of Murphys Law waiting to happen, IMO.

I just wouldn't want all that unsupported weight above it, especially on a bad road. It may hold a bike upside down, but that has nothing to do with the twisting side to side forces that would be concentrated in a small area.

And maybe i've just been lucky, but I've never had problems with a good set of ratchet tiedowns becoming slack outside of needing a click or two at the first stop.

It might work perfectly--but I wouldn't volunteer my bike as the guinea pig.

If I was to buy a strapless system it would be this one.
