Default What was your first mod?

I purchased my first Harley after several years of dreaming. Now I have a 2005 Electra Glide Ultra setting in my garage waiting for me to play with it. With all the snow we’ve gotten in Vermont it will still be a couple months before I’ll be able to ride. I told myself I wasn’t going to add anything until I put some miles on it.

It already has a stage one upgrade but other than that it’s stock.

My question is what was your first modification and if you did it again what would your first one be?
I’m sure this has been asked before but I can’t find it by searching the forum.

Like you, I bought my bike on Oct 30 and put it away at the dealer on Nov 3. I put the reach seat and reach handlebars on it at storage time. I put 200 miles on prior to storage and knew right then I needed some changes. Being 5'7" with a 29" inseam it was a challenge to reach the ground. I asked the dealer to try it out before storage but they just put it away. Can't wait till the snow goes to try it out. Good Luck

I bought my very 1st HD last year in July. After test riding one for a day at a dealer close to me, I knew what mods I had to do...

1. Touring cars - I needed more pullback.
2. Hwy boards/pegs set up the way I wanted them.
3. Better windshield, stock top was right in my line of sight.
4. Driver backrest
5. Floorboard extenders

These were my must haves, and yes I would do it again - comfort is #1 priority for mua.

I eventually have been adding some bling here and there, and I also did a stage one - I wanted a tad more oomph for an exhaust note.

MY bike is being stored at the dealer with 240 miles on it. Only been in my garage for 1 nite...(sigh)
That said I dropped off a Street Glide rear fascia with the tri bar light for the dealer to install before I bring the bike home next month. (I just couldn't bring myself to drill 6 holes in the fender...)
That will make my baby's rear look much sexier!

Bought mine in late December and immediately put it in storage. Haven't even rode it yet. I had them put on Heat Demon grip warmers while it's there as well as auxiliary lights (which you already have). I have also bought an LED headlight to replace the stock one when I get it out of storage.

Got my first HD this past August 2010 FLHTK limited 103, Love it. Had to put it away three day after I bought it. Had to be back in Colombia for work reasons. When I got back to Colombia, I had harley sickness all I did was think about, and all I do now is think about adding and moding the bike. THis past october I got a week and a half off, so It ws back to boston to ride for sure.

added in OCtober:
1. Hogtunes 3way for the freeway speakers and hog pod, satidfied but not extremely satisfied, still some distortion at high volume.

2. Back rest, this is a must have for those long huals, had them on my mustang seats with other bikes, bought the MOCO brand for the bike from the dealer, very comnfortable. Gettting seat and back rest recovered.

3. Klock Werks Slip ons. Very nice looking and sound fantastic. They are not for everybody, cuase they dont have the billet tip, they have a rolled edge. I think it looks very old school and 4" long straights stick out the back end and make it look mean and it sounds awesome as well.

4. New winshsield 10'' with Engraved HD Bar and shiels with eagle wings, light up with remote, does not bother night riding at all becuase it lights up Light Blue and only the MOCO sign lights up and the outer edge, like fiber optics.

5. New Black Powder coated Winshield trim with engraved "Harley Davidson / Electra Gluide ULtra Limited" engraved to chrome. with 1 1/2 inch spike bolts

Planned for June 23rd return date:

Contrast cut harely heel/toe with matching pegs and brake pad and lever.
Blacked out handle bars, mirrors and levers
Vance and hines Power duals
New air cleaner (cant make a decision) RSD, performence machine, Dority Who knows????
TTS master tune
Seat recoevering
Disel contrast cut wheels (if I have the $$$) might have to wait on this.

bought my 01 in Nov. 07 with 4900 miles on it. 1st mod was S&S 510G cams with new cam bearings and a Fueling Super Pump with Fueling lifters. That was due to this forum, lol.
