Default Which Heated Grips

Ok I have a 2008 FLHTCUI and am looking for heated grips. Which one is my best buy and how about the install with the fly by wire issue?

I had my heart set on the Harley heated grips, but heard about countless problems with them by forum members and even two Harley employees. I've heard nothing but good things about Heat Demons, so that's what I'm picking up next month. They are significantly cheaper too.

The ones made by Gerbing. Oh wait, they don't make heated grips but do make the best headed gear you can buy and they have a great warranty!!! Why would you want just the inside of your hands to be warmed when it is the outer that is most exposed? JMO but never made sense to me...

Heat demons! I have had them on all three of my bikes, and they worked flawlessly! Plus they are made in America by a company that stands behind their product, you won't be disappointed.

I have had both the Harley heated grips and Heat Demons. The Harley grips are complete crap stay away from them. Heat Demons are the way to go.

Thought about heated grips but was told by many who have them that the fingers still get really cold, at least around here. Opted for heated gloves and don't regret it. Less installation hassle too

When I bought my RKC, it already had the Harley heated grips and I haven't had any problems with them.....yet

That said, I think heated gloves are probably the way to go. Like said, no installation hassles and they will heat your whole hand. My hands get cold on the backs sometimes.....

I had HD heated grips on my 04 Dyna and they worked well. On my 09 FLH I had the dealer install factory grips as I was a little concerned about doing it myself what with TBW. I hadn't used them much when they started acting up. They wouldn't get very warm. I pulled the front off to check the wiring and found the "tech" had simply snap connected the hot lead to the cigarette lighter wire rather than running it back to the fuse box. The service dept did replace the grips and wired them correctly and they've worked fine ever since. After reading the posts here recommending Heat Demons, if I were doing it again I would give them a look.

Riding with heated grips for years, on many different bikes, I can't imagine not having them. They're always there and I find myself using them a lot. If you're riding in really cold temps with no wind protection for your hands you may want to use heated gloves. But on my GS with hand guards, and the Electra Glide with its fairing, I've never found the need to use the heated gloves. In fact come to think of it while I do use my heated jacket liner, I haven't used my heated gloves in years.
