Take your time and research both types of bikes and decide for yourself. The investment and the enjoyment of the bike is yours so be sure you are happy. My friends tease about the batwing and all the "toys" on my 10 SG, but when we get home after 400 miles of riding I am the one teasing them.

you really can't go wrong with either one but i suggest you go with the '09 & get better frame, better wind protection & the radio with the sg.

i tried the whole ipod music player thing but i never liked not being able to hear what's going on around me. also, it gets annoying at stops when you gotta pull out your earbud to hear what your buddy's are trying to say all of the time. they get irritated having to repeat themselves too. not to mention once the batt drains on the ipod the ride back isn't half as enjoyable. now i can hear my music and what is going on around me. your gf will appreciate it too. you learn to really appreciate the tunes when you decide to do a longer ride. better to have it & not need it then need it & not have it.

Ive got an 08 Road Star S that has 2200 miles on it and he only offered me 5200 on it.
I bought a "new leftover" 2010 RoadKing with zero miles - I got 10% off msrp
with no freight or prep....

The 2012's will be out in June - so there is only about 4 more months before a 2011 becomes a "leftover" JMO

Hey Welcome, great place to learn. Me, I'd opt for the glide, but that's me, actually I'd go for an ultra, I like the comfort and the intercom, but everybody knows, I'm a Geezer Driver Enjoy whichever one you pick!

Ive been riding for few years now on a Metric Bike which I like but its not what I wnat so over past few years Ive been looking and saving and now have finances staright so its time to buy. Ive really narrowed down to Road King Classic and Street Glides.
Questions
1) Is there a ride difference between the two bikes. I have test driven these but just dont think you can tell much of a difference during short test drive?
2) I know there was changes made in 09 i believe to the Chassis. Im looking at an 08 now thats beautiful bike but think Im better off to hold off for an 09 or 10?

Forum related question...
Is it OK to post ads and pictures and prices just to see what you guys think of some of teh bikes that I have found online..

Anway..Thanks in advance
Here's my 2 cents... deleted since I was answering a question you didn't ask.

Just remember buying the bike isn't the expensive part , putting all the goodies on it is the expensive part.

Both are great rides. Depends on if you like a fairing or prefer your view clutter-free. Do want a stereo or not? With the king you have the removable windshield for trips. You can't go wrong either way.

$15 grand, ain't bad, for a 2010 Road King (that's where the link took me) it ain't great, either. a couple of thousand off MSRP...plus some extras...
Check out kelly blue book, and NADA guides to see the local retail values, as well as the WHOLESALE value of your 2008 Yamaha.
Sadly.. you are in the worse depreciation years on the Yamaha. You'd get a LOT more by selling it on your own.... but trade in, is fast and a "done-deal" I'd at least TRY to sell privately before trading it in

Street Glides and Road Kings, are very popular..... lots of them get sold each year... and demand stays high. and the prices reflect that.

Both bikes are largely the same... same frame, same engine, same transmission, etc and so on....
The Street Glide sit lower (shorter rear shocks) and have the fairing
The Road King allows you the option... whind shield on... or off...

Great bikes, you will enjoy either. my 2 cents, would be to get either... but with the new frame....
