Default Got 'em in... SE255's.

Just finished turning my last screw, fired her up and WOW!! These cams sound great a noticeable idle and a mean bark, I want to take it for a spin want to get a new map first. I chose not to use the adjustable pushrods and went ahead and changed the inner cam bearings. Total cost for this project was $285. Keeping my stock pushrods and lifters saved me a ton of money, and the engine is quiet as ever I had to take the tank and the rocker boxes apart so this added about 2hrs to my total time of 7 hrs. I rate this a 4 on a scale of 10 for difficulty, was very easy just time consuming, had to go to HD twice for the cam gear spacer I ended up going with a .140" spacer. Instead of buying the cam installation gasket kit I purchased the gaskets and seals separately and this saved me $60. I am glad fuel moto did that comparison between the 255's and the TW555, I was impressed with the performance of the SE255 and this help me make the decision to go with these cams.

I really like my E Glide a lot more now since I had the 103 bore, SE 255 . Oh it fills so good now. Bout 88 hp 101 tork. with fuel moto headers, SE street performance muffler, SE race tuner.

I went ahead and did the big bore after I had already changed the cams. I really like the 103 with the 255 cam. I am not into speed but the torque in 6th gear is really nice, it will actualy move now if needed. I am just pushing just over 72 hp but the torque at 98 ft lbs is great. Enjoy and get a good tune.....

Sometimes the parts are priced pretty reasonable but the labor is ridiculous, you gotta do everything yourself to get ahead.

Did you buy the cams used??? Doing my own work doesn't save me anything "although I do all my own work"..... Either way I am going to sink everything I can into whatever it is I am into at the time. I swear every day I find something else I would like to get. I imagine about the time everything is how I want it I'll sell and start over...

I've been using the SE103 kit with 255s for the past year. Very nice performance upgrade, and enough power "most" of the time. Also installed ACRs to avoid any starting problems.

That said, I am tempted to swap in the 555s given the significant boost in power from 4,000 rpm. The only thing making me hesitate is the cost of the adjustable pushrods and new lifters that would be required, in addition to the new cams.

He said $285, exactly what my cam job cost, which includes $96 for the bearing tool. Since the cams retail for $300 new you'd have to buy used cams to get the price in the range the OP and I managed. This isn't a problem since low-mileage CVO pulls are usually available on Ebay for ~$150, or at least were the last time I looked. I bought mine for $110 shipped two years ago before they started getting really popular, but I wasted money on the HD cam-install kit, and the tool was about 1/3 the total cost of the job. If you re-use the stock pushrods buy the Fuel Moto cam-install kit for $50, which includes the T/T B168 bearings. If not, you can buy just two o-rings, one gasket, and the bearings (SE) from the dealer.
