looking to get some mini apes for my 09 FLHX (SG) and was wondering what the rise on the stock bars is. The dealer said 10" (which I doubt) I measured from bend to bend and got like 6.5". I am thinking 10" over 12", I don't really want my hands over the fairing. Thanks.
What many call the Heritage bars are actually called the Heritage Style Bar PN 56902-08. These bars are factory notched for TBW. For $80.00 there hard to beat for you first seat of bars. They will also introduce you to changing out a set of handlebar.
They work with the factory wiring and cables, you don't have to change anything other than the bars.
These are a vast improvement over stock but for many it is the first step on getting to you really want to be. I road with them for a year but resently upgraded to the Wildones 502's which are a 12" ape. For some this may be all the bars you need.
Another option is the Kromewerks +2 SweeperS which also don't require a cable or wiring change.
The bars in my signiture are the heritage style bars.
Put Heritage bars on last year and got rid of my backache! (LOVE THEM) Just sat on a 2011 Road King Classic recently and it seems that HD fixed the handlebar problem of the 09/2010's. Don't know if it was just the bars or the bars and seat they changed but the bike fits TOTTALY different.
As TP pointed out a few posts above, the Heritage-style bars are ready to go with TBW.
I would advise anyone considering changing bars to be sure you like the seat first. I'd start with getting a comfortable saddle, then go for the bars.
In my case, I swapped out the stock seat on my FLHR for a Mustang super solo. Then I replaced the stock bars with Heritage-style. The new bars are a big improvement, but not quite it for me. I can see going with Wild Ones 502s when I change these out.
Came stock on my '05 FLHPI. Loved them. Buddy put drag type bars on his Heritage when he first got it, he gave me his stock bars, now I have a set for the Fugly. On another note, pargenz, I can't quit staring at your sig pic.
