I've been considering switching from my Vance and Hines Fuel Pack to the XIED's. Anyone compare the two of them, is it a waste of time and money?
John
Check the nightrider.com site on the xied's - they have all the types (V,FL,X,X14.) and what bikes they are best suited for. I think they even show use with other (fuel sack) enrichers. I'm running Rinehart SO with ArlenNess Big Sucker and X14ied's with stock 96. Has grunt and lots of get up and go. Give Steve (nightrider) a call and he can answer any other ? you have. Beats $$$ spent on a SERT or PC and you won't blow your brain box doing a flash.

I'm not sure John. I'm not familiar with the Jackpot Headpipe. I put the FL-XIED'S-10 on my 2010 RK when I installed the Arlen Ness BS A/F and The Jackpot Muffler's I took off my 08 Ultra Classic. It ran great! Then I wanted to get rid of the Cat and go 2into1 I emailed Steve Mullen at niterider and asked him if I installed a D&D Fatcat or V&H Pro Pipe, would the XIED'S handle it. He said I might be over stepping their limit with those header pipes. I didn't want to buy a tuner to gain a couple more HP, so I chose to buy a Stock 2into1 header off Ebay that had the Cat taken out. I then Bought a PowerTube Muffler from FuelMoto. Very simular to The other two's Muffler's. I'm very happy with my setup now. What I thought was interesting, Steve Mullen told me if I did get to the point where I needed a Tuner, he suggested Buying a PCV from Jamie at Fuelmoto. I guess everybody is aware of Jamie's reputation.
I have used the IED's for the last 3 years with great success. I had them on my 1200 Nightster w/ V&H SS and now I have a set on the LoBoy
w/2-1 Bassani RR. They work. I don't need a $100 dyno run to tell me that.
I believe the BEST setup in my OPINION is to do intake and headpipe and get the HD Stage 1 recalibration for $150 for proper AFV and then get XiEDs for richer closed loop running. I performed that on my previous 09 FXDC and my current 2010 FLHTP with positive results. The HD Stage 1 recal increases redline from 5500 to 6200 RPMs and advances the timing among adjusting bias value from the O2 sensor. Spend the extra $150 and rest assured instead of guessing and worrying. Cheap peace of mind.
Got mine installed last night. About to head out to Leesburg Bikefest, so I will see how well they help me out. Now I can pick up an Arlen Ness air cleaner... :-)
