Question Pushrod Preload for Woods TW-555 Cams ???

I have just installed a pair of Woods TW-555 Cams, Woods Directional Lifters and Fuel Moto Adjustable pushrods.

My question is how much preload should I put on the Adjustable pushrods? The instructions that came with the Fuel Moto Pushrods state 19 flats for the preload. The instructions that cam with the Woods TW-555 Cams (Andrews Products, Inc. instructions) state 21-24 flats.

When I installed the pushrods into my 07 Ultra I used 19 flats and I am getting a very loud ticking sound in my rear head. The front seems quiet.

I am thinking that I should increase the preload to 24 flats. I think that there might be a gap between the pushrod and the rocker arm.

I tried calling Fuel Moto but their answering machine stated that they were closed today and they were attending a trade show.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Scott

fuelmoto told me 4 turns with their pushrods and 555's and figured it would be the same for the 5'6's I installed. Bob Wood agreed. But this was with stock lifters. Mine are as quiet as stock. Not sure how many flats in a turn but I'm sure you can figure that out.....

Default Thanks!!

Davewear,

Thanks... There are 6 flats to a turn so 4 turns should be right on. Right now I have 3 turns plus 1 flat. Back to the garage I go!!! Time to open everything back up and start adjusting... not too hard.

Thanks,

Scott
