I have a '06 SG that has a SERT and has been Dyno tuned 2 times. I have not been happy with either tune. Here's the problem: at slow speeds
(0-35mph), in 1st, 2nd or 3rd gears and between 1100 - 2200 rpm's, I feel a pulsing sensation, like mini surges. At first I thought it was the suspension but I am now pretty certain it's the engine. Also on decel I have a very noticable surge around 1600 rpm along with slight pop and gurgle. 4th and 5th gear are smooth. I also have a lot of shake at idle. All of this makes driving around town a pain in the butt. If I go thru all of the gears at a rapid pace I don't notice any of the above. One other thing, I am only getting about 31 MPG combined driving.
I don't know wether I should keep the SERT and pursue a better tuner or set the ECM back to stock and purchase a PCIII from Fuel Moto with one of Jamie's MAPS.
What option do you think will deliver the best result?
Has anyone experience any of the symptoms I have described?

When did you buy your bike, and do you have the 25° injectors installed, because if your bike was manufactured before the middle of February of 2006 then it has 8° injectors. Mine were changed out about 10 days after the service bulletin came out and took care of a couple of problems.

Sorry, I should have mentioned, My injectors were changed to the 25 degree at the time of the Dyno tune.
Keep the SERT, there is nothing wrong with it and and a PC III has less fine tuning capabilities then the SERT, and either one in the hands of an incompetent tech. will yield the same poor results. Why waste money on a PC III when you already own the SERT and since it doesn't remain in the bike it is one less component that can fail. I think bountyhunter must get a commission for every PC III that is sold. Also tell us about your injectors.
Problems with a SERT are caused by someone tuning it who doesn't quite understand what's up. If you've ever looked at the SERT maual, the tuner better know what he or she is doing! The mechanics at the dealership where I work all prefer the PCIII. Not because it's better, they just know their limitations and think the PCIII will do a pretty good job. Sure makes my bike run very well.
First off I have a PCIII and I love it. I have a few friends that have the SERT and They have had problems getting it tuned right. When they finally did get a dyno tech that knew what they were doing they were happy as hell. So I say, Being a PCIII owner, keep the SERT and dump you tech!!! MHO...
I have a SERT and am happy with it. From reading the other posts re PCIII/SERT issues, it seems that if you have the bike set up a certain way, fuel moto does a good job of pre-mapping it 4 u. Good if ur not really tech inclined. Just hook it up and ride! The SERT would definitely need a dyno (Unless ur good at reading MAPS and making mods). I just dyno'd my bike and it runs great, but leans out a little at the higher rpm (5-6). I don't plan to bring it that high, so no worries. You can also fine tune the SERT a little bit more that the PCIII. Whichever one u pick, there will be numerous comments about both. Enjoy!
Just FYI, the EPA is looking at California as a test case for m/c emission control. The laws have not been written, but our dealership here in the Bay Area is no longer selling or modifying exhaust systems. They say if it passes in Cal, the effect will start rolling eastward. Keep your fingers crossed! This really sucks!!!
