Just got done putting a starter on my 01.got the first starter off e-bay,it was 180.00,and it worked once, that was it.Also purchased a manual push button chrome Bendix override. The starter would work with it,but not with my push button control.I contacted the person, that I had bought the starter from, and he said he would send me a all ***** starter for the same price,it's a 2hp starter, and it spins the v-twin like a Briggs like really fast, and easy. Also found out that on that year on the starter jackshaft, the locking rear ring were made out of plastic,so I changed it to s steel one.On 2004 they started making them all out of steel,or so I was told, but the all ***** starter is one hell of a starter, made my old one sound like something out of the middle ages.If anyone is thinking about a starter don't forget about these, and you can get them cheaper then 345.00.
Sorry to hear that if you will return it to me i will pay the return shipping and i will send you a upgraded starter from a company called "All *****" it is more money but you will not have to pay any more money. I have sold at least 30 like the one you bought with no trouble and now i have had two bad ones this week i will not be selling them any more but i will be sure you get a better one at no cost to you. Sorry for the inconvenience. Kim.
