i went with the riders claw chrome ipod holder. i didnt have it yet in my pic but it installs on the two screws on the housing by the hi/lo beam switch on your left hand. very handy to ff or switch playlists and still maintain throttle. www.ridersclaw.com
I have my ipod touch in a cheapo clear front holster clipped to my fairing pouch. That way if i am using the map or directions, the screen is in my line of sight with out taking eyes off the road.
I tried more expensive mounts first, and I test rode a cvo with the ipod in saddlebag.
Had to take eyes off of road too much to operate the darn thing.

I also use the Rider's Claw, but I mounted it on the right hand side. Works great!

I actually have the new Ipod Nano Gen 6 that I just have industrial strengh vel-cro on the back of my Ipod and on the mounting surface of the arm... never had a problem with it and it is in the perfect location to change the song or whatever... here is a pic of it mounted on my bike. The only reason I have it on the throttle side is because my GPS is mounted on the clutch side.
