My advice is to ride both and be your on judge on the frame. As for the seat on the Glide, alot of folks here say that the Stock Road Glide seat is great. I am actually going to buy one for my EGC for a more stream lined look when riding witout my tour pac.

Alot of deals to be had on ebay for a sissy bar for the little lady.

Just my $.02

So, I have two bikes I am looking at and have what I think is a pretty solid deal options:

1. 2008 Road King (the one with the hard bags, sorry, I don't know the specific model). Black. 10k miles. Upgraded seat, back rest, and luggage rack. Just has some slip ons. $14,800

2. 2010 Road Glide, new. Black. Has most everything except for ABS. Stock seat, no backrest for the wife. Stock intake and exhaust. $18,000.

That is a very good deal on the Road Glide, but I know I will have to instantly upgrade the seat and get a sissy bar, luggage rack, etc.

I plan for this to be a VERY long term bike, putting about 10k miles on it per year. I am not a big stereo guy, but could probably get used to having one. Lastly, the Road glide is about $2k more than I want to spend right now.

So, all of that said, do you guys have any input/feedback? Anything I am not thinking of or considering?

Thanks in advance!
Why not consider a Ultra Classic in the mix??? your speaking of a Road Glide custom?? Why not the Road Glide Ultra for you & the wife?

My preference would be the RK. I have never liked the RG platform although others swear by it. With the King you could always add an after market fairing if you like. I had a E-Glide Classic before this Standard and did a lot of touring on it. It's the bike I like for the long rides.
I have always liked the looks of the RK though. The one Fuji posted looks great IMHO.

+1,,, the wide stance has more to do with the redesigned seat pan than the frame, try a different seat, it will make a big difference

I didn't read all the post in this thread, but I bought a new 10 roadglide with abs, cruise and security for 21K. This was MSRP. I think 18K is a little high, but that is just my opinion. I love the roadglide, but I think a used ultra also should be considered. ABS should be a must on your bike.

Been There - Done That. Save yourself another upgrade and go with a used low mileage Ultra ... she will love it!! All that extra crap you thought you'd never use will be something you later can't live without. Happy Wife = Happy Life

Even though I posted earlier on the RK based on the choices you gave us, I will of COURSE throw in my vote for an Ultra Classic - if you are gonna go bagger, ya might as well just do it right. ;-) I LOVE mine!! I gave up, well sold, my two other metrics without hesitation after owning my Ultra. The bike is light enough for around town cruising and errands - dem bags come in handy - and it is so comfy for the long-haul, and the Mrs. loves it as well.
