If you have a HK radio or a radio that has an AUX port handy, send me a PM and I'll tell you my set up. The volume is adjusted by the radio controls and the ipod is charged. No, you can't change tunes while moving but that wasn't a big deal for me with the shuffle feature.
Try the Griffin Navigate Remote & FM Radio for iPod iPhone. Best Buy sells for $54 I found New on Ebay $15.99 free ship.... www.netdirectbargains.com listed it.
I use it with my Ipod set-up on 08 Road King Classic 4 speaker system w/500 watt mini amp. Gives me full control in reach without having to look away from road, better volume control than just Ipod (turn to max use remote to adjust) plus can change songs too. Even can be switched to FM tuner to play radio through Ipod/Remote combo.
Can always use a mat charger. Seems to me that is your best option. Use the dock cord for the wireless remote and plug he mat charger into a seperate 12 volt (you have to install that) then you will have both worlds. Wireless remote and charging. Use some gorilla glue and stick it to the wall of your bags and mount a clip that holds your phone to the mat or whatever custom idea to keep it on the mat. Let me know back if that will work for ya.
