Thanks to GlacierPearl for answering my other question. I now have another issue. Remember, I am as dumb as a stump when it comes to audio, but have a fair amount of experience in other vehicle related areas so if something is explained to me, can carry it out.
I have an 07 StreetGlide with the Harmon-Kardon stock head unit. I am running an Arc Audio 125.2 amp and 6.5" Hertz speakers in the front fairing. Additionally, I have been running my ipod through the 3.5mm jack in the front of the unit with an I simple poly wire cord. The I simple cord went bad and I was looking to make some changes anyway. I want to add saddlebag lid speakers and am wondering if I should change the head unit. I'm thinking this to get away from the need for the I simple cord and the ipod. Is there a head unit out there that I wont need a mortgage for that will store my music like my ipod does and that will work with the handlebar controls? I assume it needs to be waterproof. What about tweeters? Also, any input on saddlebag speakers/lids would be greatly appreciated.

Whew.....the options are endless. The only thing you may not be able to get away with is the waterproof part. Marine grade is not waterproof by any means. If you are cool with using bluetooth from your phone, then there are many many options to choose for less than $100. You definitely want to change head units if you plan on adding more. The difference in sound cant even be measured or justified until you hear it.
As far as storage goes that will be cheap, another option is to use USB or an SD card with your music stored on it. Just about all of the radios above $75 have that option nowadays. Im sure others will chime in.

Yes, factory unit is waterproof. Another option if you must have waterproof is to send your factory unit to iron cross audio and for $205, you could get bluetooth and rca installed to your factory radio. This allows you many options with amps that will be used to power rear speakers, and gives you the ability to still use your iphone to play your music. I will be sending mine off tomorrow. The aftermarket head unit is no good to me because for about 8 months of the year, my bike is my commuter vehicle and leaves no room or time to deal with weather issues with the stereo.
I wouldn't go so far as saying the factory unit is "waterproof". Water resistant is more like it. Hit it with a direct spray from a hose or leave the CD door open during rain and it's toast.
And with a proper rain shield, any aftermarket unit will survive the elements.
