Groversue I think I have a Harley compass for a Batwing in a box of junk if you want it email your address and I will send it to you
That was my opinion also, worked okay but the lighting at night was so bad it was very hard to see.
The install was a bit of a pain because the sending unit was mounted to the rear of the bike on the frame for the right hand saddle bag.
I have one that I would give away for the cost of shipping.

I was just answering Thatzmister2u about the clipboard, map holder and the rest...
I am a candidate for a nice electronic compass solution.
I bought the GPS12 when it first came out, used it on my Yamaha FJ for many years and finally came back to a nice compass for most trips. BTW, my wristwatch has needles and doesn't use batteries so it's hard for me to get lost.
Get a zumo, then you have a compass, gps, mp3 player, XM, weather and traffic, trip computer, Bluetooth phone and headsets. HD has a nice fairing mount if you don't want it on the handle bars
True north is shifting at a rapid pace right now rendering a compass almost useless. Its so off right now that tampa airport has shut down one of its runways because of it. Gps is deffinatly the way to go as others have mentioned. Here;s a link to an article about the Compass shift. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/loc...,2819271.story

Nice article, but my EG can not travel at sea, in the air or off-road
I buy updated maps every two years and use the compass with confidence mainly when approaching intersections. GPS mapping software is often out of date in Europe, most stores still carry the 2007 edition
