Dip a rag in kerosene, and it'll come right off. Or, use ultra fine steel wool dipped in kerosene. That also works great for road grime, tar, etc.

Default Melted Boot

I did something similar last week. I had on some nylon sweats going to the gym, and melted part of it on the exhaust. I read somewhere to try an SOS pad. Fisrt I got the bike warm, and then gently wiped off the sticky mess. Only thing I had to do after was to wash off the bluish soap residue from the SOS pad. No scratches at all, and really easy to do.

Everyone has their own solution. I agree with the oven cleaner. heat the bike up spray oven cleaner on rag and wipe it off.

I use steel wool with WD-40. It comes right off with minimal effort.

Best to just remove the heat shield if you're going to use an oven cleaner. It's only held on by two 3/8" clamps and takes about two minutes to take off.

No need to heat pipes. Spray on pipes cold, hose off the next morning. Gone

HD has a rubber and plastic remover. About a four oz. bottle is $9.00. Saw it on the counter at a dealer.
