Default Question about Ultra Classic

I just traded for a 2011 Ultra and can't find an auxillary connection for accessories ( heated gloves for example) to connect to. I see the head set connections and the ipod connection, but no auxillary connection. The owners manual showed one in the tourpack, but I don't have one.
I had to install a connection under my seat on my Road King, but I thought the Ultra Classic already came with auxillary connections. Am I missing something? Thanks

Well, your heated gear should come with a harness that you connect to the battery, that is compatible to the heated gear that you bought. It may be a flat connector or a coax, depending on what brand heated gear you bought. There may be an auxilary plug in your tour pack, but it's not the type you would use heated gear for, but rather for charging things like cell phones. The ones I've seen, if I remember right, were on the Ultra Limited, and were mounted in the right front of the tour pack. In checking the "Technolgy" section on the harley web site for the Limited and the Ultra, it does not show that feature on the standard Ultra.

There should also be a connection by the battery that is controlled by the accessory switch on your dash, to plug in Harley accessories, such as the Zeppelin seat or heated seat.

I left the harness to the battery on the Road King. It's been so long since I've done it I didn't remember to take it off. Maybe they will let me come get it. I just thought those were already on the Ultra. Thanks,MNPGRider

It's a 5 amp dual prong type used usually on the trickle chargers, and on older Gerbing gear.

Different dealers bring them out different places on the bike from the direct connection off the battery during set up. Pull the seat off and you'll be able to trace it back.

If you've got the old style dual prong heated gear you'll be fine if you change the fuse to a 15A.

it's an accessory, some dealers put them on, some don't.
some hang down the right side, some on the left by the nose of the seat ( good position for the heated gear.

It's an $8 part.

the 12 volt in the tour pak is on the Ultra Limited- but you can add one easily.

some dealers install a battery tender plugg, dont use it for heated gear its not rated for the amps heated gear can pull, instead use the pigtail that came with the heated gear as it will also allow the use of the tender.there is also a acc switch on the dash that controls a acc recepticale located under the seat, but im not sure how many amps u can pull from it.

on my 09 Ultra Classic there is a deutsch connector under the seat for the ACC switch that I hooked two heated seat controllers too. For heated gear I would go with the manufacturers recommendations and install the pigtail provided with the gear since you may end up pulling in excess of 10A with gloves and jacket liner. only the limited has the tourpak mounted power supply, I wouldnt think that would be an ideal place to connect heated gear
