Pulling The Trigger on a Cam Install
I am going to have my local indy put in a set of Andrew's 37 gear cams, adjustable pushrods and comp cam lifters in my TC88 motor. This is going to be phase one, and may do head work down the road as I know this shouldn't be over looked. Looking at about $900-$1000 for parts and labor. I really want to tackle this myself as I enjoy wrenching on my scoot, but having the indy do it is a good insurance policy. Anyone think the cost isn't fair? Sounds about right to me, but not sure. Looking for a little performance upgrade with torque and a bit more of the Harley "grind" sound.
It's a fair price. I nstalled those cams in a friend's bike. Retail on the cams, geardrives and pushrods is around $800. I'd guess he'll have over $600 in parts at dealer cost, so the labor is about right. I know people paying $1200-$1300. for that same setup installed.
