Default hd seat positioning question

ok - i understand that the hd reach seat moves you up closer to the bars - but what about the hd sundowner? hd ad says it is more comfortable but does not say if it moes you up or down ? foward or backward? would someone that has one on a sg let me know - thanks

To sum it up its gonna raise you up a bit because its a much more plush seat but the riding position back and forth won't change any.

For what it's worth, I had the reach seat, it pretty much does what Phat09 says, but I really didn't like the look. I just bought the 2011 Street Glide seat and it puts me at about the same height as the reach seat and looks a lot better. I'm short (5'7") with a 29" inseam and with the 2011 seat I'm flat footed on an even surface. Would like to be a bit lower so I'm debating on whether to have MCC rework the seat. Oh, and the 2011 seat is a lot cheaper than the reach seat. Have not done any long rides yet so I can't speak to the comfort/padding but on short rides ( 50 miles or so) it's fine.

I have a sundowner on a '10 SG and it is like Phat says, very plush and sits you a bit higher. If you have trouble reaching the ground flat footed with the stock seat, the sundowner will make it worse. As far as forward or back, the sundowner is quite a bit thicker in the front section by the tank. I notice it most when putting my feet down, it feels wider. All in all I like it a lot.

If you haven't heard of Mean City, check'em out. They take any seat (stock, HD, corbin, mustang) and fit it to you with memory foam. The memory foam is way more comfortable for longer rides for me and my girl; they form it to your riding position; you get to keep the stock low profile look (no couch look for the back seat); and it's cheaper than anything I've seen...about $200. Worth the phone call. Only downside is that you have to mail your seat in, so you're without a seat for a weakend, which means no riding...unless you're really hard core! Good luck!
