Default stock seat vs hd sundowner seat

Im looking to replace the stock seat with a Sundowner on a 2011 street glide. Anyone have experience with this seat on an SG? Any likes/dislikes? Im hoping it doesn't sit the driver any higher.

Your opinions will help me decide whether to buy this seat or not...so appreciate any comments!

Thanks!!!

Only buy it if you need the passenger part better.

I have the sundowner seat on my 2011 RKC. Love it, better support..the wife loves it, but it does sit u up bout an inch or so higher.. and it is a bit wider for the rider too. The Mrs. is happier so that is a bonus!!

Bugs,

The 2011 stock seats are some of the "best" stock seats since the frame change in 09".

I can't speak for a street glide, since I have a Road Glide, but it's the same frame, etc, etc, minus fairing. Personnelly, I think the Sundowner is a bulky, ugly looking seat in general.
However, as per BSR, it's a whole lot more cush than any stock seat for the S. G's or R. G's. If you have a tourpak on, it doesn't look to f'n ugly. Without the TP, you would want to park your scoot in the fariest place from where ever....
Truly, it's a pretty good saddle for long rides for the BSR, and gives pretty good back support for the rider. A big plus for the rider is adding a back rest.
All in all, I only put the sundowner on when momma wants to ride. I prefer the solo seat most of the time.

Good Luck with your choice and Ride Safe!

YB

I don't have an SG but I have one on my RKC and as scotracy said it does sit you up higher and is a little wider than the stock seat. I also think it moves you forward just a little. The Sundowner is a comfortable seat and also has great back support for the rider which made a nice difference for me. Passenger comfort is greatly improved as the seat is wider and more comfortable. It is a great seat to have for longer trips.

I have a 2011 streetglide and bought a sundowner as well. When I have the wife I ride witht he sundowner night and day for her, when I am solo I ride with a stock roadglide seat that has been done by mean city cycles, the sundowner is comfy but I dont like the look of it on a streetglide when my passenger backrest is off

Seats are very subjective to the rider. I just got a sundowner solo bucket from a forum member and It lifts me up a very little....(that's what I wanted)....it sets me forward a little.....(that's what I wanted.....I have a slightly shorter reach)......only drawback is I have to re-adjust my highway pegs slightly forward.....maybe 1/2 inch.

I am looking to purchase the matching pillon.

I feel more "planted"....less sliding around. Put maybe 150 miles on it and it seems like it will be very comfortable for the long hauls. I like it.

Knew I should have posted mine in the classified section. I have both the solo bucket and the passenger pillon. Don't want to separate.

To the OP...... It will move you up and forward a bit but the additional back support is a big plus.
